Community vote leads to £4,275 donation
A recycling company in North Wales has donated £4,275 to help us provide our ongoing support to blind veterans.
Bryson Recycling launched a “Recycling Rewards” campaign in 2020 which sees them donate £1 to charity for every tonne of garden waste collected through the brown bin collection service they provide on behalf of Conwy County Borough Council. The organisation has raised a phenomenal £48,000 over the past five years.
From the start of October 2023 to the end of September 2024, Bryson collected 8,222 tonnes of garden waste, setting their donation amount at £8,222. This year they shortlisted three charities: ourselves, Llanfairfechan Foodbank and Kinmel Bay Community Centre. Conwy residents were asked to help them choose how much to donate to each through an online vote.
We received a huge 52% of the votes.
Rosina, Community Engagement Lead, said:
"Bryson Recycling have been a great supporter of Blind Veterans UK, with the provision of gifts in kind to our Llandudno Centre that have enabled us to provide beautiful, safe outdoor spaces for veterans visiting the centre.
"We are so touched that their team members, who have come to know the value of our work, have put us forward for this vote and even more grateful to the members of the Conwy community who have supported us when casting their vote. The resulting donation will be put to great use at our Llandudno Centre in ensuring our veterans receive life changing support and experiences that will help them lead independent and fulfilling lives."
Gareth, General Manager from Bryson Recycling said:
“This year’s campaign has been our most successful so far, with our highest ever donation amount of £8,222 and over 6,400 people voting on our online poll. Thank you to all the local residents who got involved in the campaign this year – either by voting for their favourite charity or by recycling their garden waste.”
Bryson Recycling Conwy is one of the many regional corporate supporters who help to make a difference to the lives of our blind veterans both with their direct support in their own communities but also by raising awareness of our support for blind veterans across the UK via their internal networks.
