Staff member's fundraising challenge for a healthier 2025
A staff member from our Rustington Centre is aiming to improve her health and wellbeing by losing two stone by 31st January. To keep her weight loss on track she is giving herself the extra incentive of raising money to support our blind veterans by being sponsored to reach her goal.
Paula has worked for our charity for ten years and works as a member of the hospitality team, greeting and assisting visitors and veterans who come to our Rustington Centre. Paula Says:
“Anyone who knows me, knows that I have a very sweet tooth, and this has resulted in a few health challenges for me. I’m hoping this challenge will spur me on to embrace lifestyle changes while helping to raise vital funds.
“Knowing that people are getting behind me by making donations will help keep me on track, as will the support I’m receiving from my friend and work colleague, a trained nutritionist and physical trainer, who is guiding me along the way and ensuring I lose the weight safely.”
As an employee of our charity, Paula sees first-hand how generous donations from supporters impact on the work the charity does to support blind veterans, young and old, to fulfil their own goals and overcome their own challenges following sight loss. She says:
“Seeing supporters over the years taking on physical challenges such as marathons and cycle rides, or organising bake sales or simply making a donation, led me to think about what I could do to make a difference.
“During my time at the charity, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many interesting characters with incredible stories. I’ve been inspired by their ability to overcome the barriers created by their sight-loss due to their determination to be independent coupled with the support the charity provides.”
You can support Paula and help her reach her £500 goal.
Fundraising alongside her challenge is giving Paula extra encouragement to achieve her goal. Are you looking to make a resolution to improve your health and wellbeing this January?
